Transport Canada has announced it is to tighten air cargo security measures. It recently received a report from ICAO that urges Canada to beef up its air security through improved cargo screening and better training programmes.

- More Than 2.7m Extra Passengers at Dublin Airport in 2006[Jan. 24, 2007]
Official figures released by Dublin Airport late January show that more than 2.7 million additional passengers travelled through the airport last year, representing a 15% increase over 2005. In all, over 21.1 million passengers used Dublin Airport in 2006.
- Air China Commences RNP Operations at Jiuzhaigou[Feb. 06, 2007]
Air China and the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) completed a successful operational validation flight of RNP navigation procedures at Jiuzhaigou early Feb., capping an extensive program of procedure development, flight testing and operations review. The flight was conducted in an Air China Boeing 757. The approval by the CAAC makes Jiuzhaigou the third airport in China to gain access using RNP, joining Lhasa and Linzhi as successful deployments by Naverus.
- HKIA Gears Up for Lunar New Year Holidays[Feb. 11, 2007]
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is preparing for the annual Lunar New Year rush, when about 800 extra passenger flights are scheduled to depart and arrive between February 13 and March 1. The number of departing passenger flights is expected to peak on February 18, the first day of the Lunar New Year, when additional flights will comprise more than 10% of the day's total.
- Steel Workers to Turn Up Heat on HKIA Fuel Store Plan[Feb. 12, 2007]
Workers at a steel mill in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong, have stepped up pressure on the Airport Authority Hong Kong to scrap plans to build a huge fuel depot nearby, calling the project a "tremendous threat to human lives."

To improve service for elderly and physically handicapped travelers, Japan Airlines is assigning 290 qualified caring staff at 42 airports in Japan.

Additional flights are being scheduled by Hong Kong's civil aviation authorities in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday rush of Hong Kong residents visiting family and friends as well as hundreds of thousands of visitors expected in the city.
