EVA Air has completed its first B747-400 freighter conversion - the first of a series of B747-400's to be converted over the next two years. The newly converted aircraft performed its first duty by flying to Anchorage and Los Angeles from Taipei.

On May 15, China Southern Airlines confirmed that it was in talks with Air France to explore the possibility of establishing a joint-venture cargo airline.
- Chinese Airlines Maintains Rapid Growth Rate in First Quarter 2007[Apr. 25, 2007]
China's airlines maintained their rapid growth rate in the first quarter, enjoying a 15.9% year-over-year rise in passengers to 40.9 million and a 13.3% gain in freight to 858,000 tonnes, according to CAAC statistics. International numbers lifted significantly. International passengers climbed 23.9% to 3.8 million and freight rose 25.1% to 238,000 tonnes. CAAC attributed the improvement to growth in both imports and exports as well as airlines' capacity increases.
- Cathay Pacific Releases Combined Traffic Figures for April 2007[May 14, 2007]
On May 14, Cathay Pacific Airways released traffic figures for April 2007 that show the combined Cathay Pacific/Dragonair passenger load factor rising above 80% for the first time this year, spurred by the long Ching Ming and Easter holiday in Hong Kong early in the month. The cargo load factor slipped by almost 5 percentage points, however, as the downturn in the market continued.
- HKIA: Holiday-makers Boost Passenger Traffic in April[May 13, 2007]
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 4 million passengers in April, a 5.9% increase from April 2006, as thousands of people left Hong Kong during the Easter and Ching Ming holidays. On April 5, the day before Good Friday, HKIA set a new record with more than 890 aircraft movements.
- China Airlines Chairman Receives Lifetime Achievement Award[May 03, 2007]
On April 28, China Airlines chairman Philip Wei received a lifetime achievement award from the world-renowned cargo publication Air Cargo News in London. The award recognizes chairman Philip Wei for his visionary role in the air cargo industry and exceptional management of CAL's cargo operations. The event marked the first time a corporate top executive from an Asian airline has received the award. Chairman Philip Wei emphasized, when receiving the award, "this is the honor to be shared with the entire CAL cargo team."

China Southern Airlines, China's largest carrier by fleet size, said it carried 4.88 mln passengers in April, up 17.4 pct year-on-year.
