Cathay Pacific Airways (CX) unveiled a new livery Sunday morning during a ceremony in Hong Kong, marking the airline's biggest makeover in two decades.
The livery was showcased on one of the airline's Boeing 777-300ER aircraft (Registration B-KPM) at a special event held at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).
The 777-300ER aircraft was the first aircraft to bear the new livery, and that the Airbus A350 will be the next type to have the new livery. Cathay will eventually repaint its over 150 aircraft with the new livery in the next five years.
The long rumored change comes months after the airline unveiled a new refreshed logo that is incorporated in the new livery, which replaces the current Landor designed Cathay Pacific look that was unveiled in 1994.
The new livery incorporates an updated and streamlined brushwing logo, a simplification of its color palette to three colors (green, grey, and white), as well as a more prominent display of the Cathay Pacific wordmark and brushwing. These updates are most evident on three areas of the aircraft: the nose, the fuselage, and the tail.
