On November 30, Pulkovo Airport welcomed its 15 millionth passenger in 2017. The lucky winner of the honorary status was Anastasiya, who flew from St. Petersburg on Nordwind Airlines flight N4 532 to Mineralnye Vody.
This was a new record for Pulkovo: never before in its history had St. Petersburg airport handled so many passengers in a single calendar year.
To celebrate the long-awaited achievement, the airport managing company Northern Capital Gateway (NCG) prepared a pleasant surprise for all the travellers of N4 532 flights: serving refreshments and beverages and giving out Pulkovo souvenirs. Evgeniy Ilyin, Chief Commercial Officer of NCG, congratulated Anastasiya on behalf of the airport and presneted her with a certificate to the business lounge, Pukovo branded gifts and an exquisite tea set from the renowned St. Petersburg Imperial Porcelain Factory.
Nordwind Airlines launched direct flights from Pulkovo to Mineralnye Vody on November 2, 2017. The city in the Stavropol region of Russia became the carrier's second route with scheduled service after Moscow from St. Petersburg airport. The number of passengers handled by Nordwind at Pulkovo airport exceeded 391,000 for the past 11 months of 2017, which represents a 92% growth year-on-year. In the winter 2017/2018 season, the airline performs charter flights from St. Petersrburg to Antalya, Dubai, Phuket, and other resort destinations.
Pulkovo Airport is the fourth in Russia for passenger traffic volume. For the first 10 months of 2017, St. Petersburg airport welcomed 13.95 million people, which is 23% more than in the same period of 2016.
