Boeing has completed final gauntlet testing on the first 747-8 Intercontinental jetliner. The two days of testing were completed late Sunday. "The team continues to do great work to get the 747-8 Intercontinental into the air," said Elizabeth Lund, vice president and general manager, 747 program. "It'll be a great day for the team when the airplane flies."

Indian regulators said Monday they would check that thousands of pilots were qualified to do their job, after at least four were alleged to be flying passenger planes with forged qualifications.

U.S. FAA revealed last week that it "recently required the nation's airlines to disable the oxygen generators located in all aircraft lavatories to eliminate a potential safety and security vulnerability." Airlines completed the work on 6,000 aircraft by March 4, the agency said in a statement. It did not explain what danger the generators posed, but the concern was clearly that a knowledgeable terrorist could ignite the contents of the container while in the lavatory.
