Passengers will be able to carry lotions and gels onto airliners again after a six-week ban - but only in tiny containers of 3 ounces or less and only if they're in clear zip-top plastic bags.
- Lufthansa Builds A380 Hangar in Frankfurt[Sep. 21, 2006]
Lufthansa is continuing to invest in Frankfurt and the surrounding Rhine-Main region. At a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the A380 maintenance hangar on 21st September, which was attended by the Minister of Economics, Transport and Regional Development of the State of Hesse, Dr. Alois Riehl, and the Mayor of Frankfurt, Petra Roth, the company underscored its role as the biggest employer in Hesse.
- Lufthansa Expands & Modernises Fleet[Sep. 20, 2006]
At its meeting on 20th September, the Lufthansa Supervisory Board approved an order for 35 new aircraft. From 2007, Lufthansa will take delivery of a total of 30 new short- and medium-range aircraft: five Airbus A319s, ten Airbus A320s and 15 Airbus A321s. Lufthansa has also taken options on a further 30 aircraft of the A320 family. In addition, the Supervisory Board gave the goahead for Lufthansa to order five long-range Airbus A330s.

Less than a week before the official opening of Suvarnabhumi airport, transport authorities assured on Sept 22 that all systems at the new international airport will function smoothly, including its conveyor belts which have proved to run with 100% accuracy.

From November 1, airport fees applied to passengers travelling on international routes will be included in the fares and collected by the airways, Vietnam's civil aviation authority announced.

- Airbus Signs Deal with Russian Airline[Sep. 25, 2006]
Airbus SAS has won a preliminary order from the Russian airline OAO Transaero for eight A330-200 planes, worth about US$1.2 billion, as the country's airline industry seeks to modernize its fleet.
- JAL International & JAL Domestic to Unify[Sep. 20, 2006]
From October 1, 2006, Japan Airlines will be a single operating company, following the unification of the present two operating companies, JAL International and JAL Domestic companies. This change will complete the process of integrating the former Japan Airlines and Japan Air System.
- JAL Group Revises Route & Frequency Plan[Sep. 19, 2006]
The JAL Group is making further revisions to its route and frequency plan for the second half of FY2006 (the year ending March 31, 2007), in addition to those already announced on August 17, 2006. The revisions are subject to government approval.
- JAL & Korean Air Expand Codeshare Agreement[Sep. 19, 2006]
Japan Airlines (JAL) and Korean Air (KAL) have agreed to expand their code share agreement from October 29, 2006 by adding extra flights to existing code share routes and by starting new twice-daily code share flights on the Tokyo-Busan and Osaka (Kansai)-Busan routes.
