Pulkovo airport is to enlarge its network of long-distance flights by attracting new carriers, the airport's management has announced, with new routes opened to the U.S and south-east Asia.

Swiss AviationTraining (SAT), SWISS's flight and aviation training operation, has been run as a 50/50 joint venture with GCAT Flight Academy UK Limited (GCAT), formerly GE Commercial Aviation Training Limited, since SWISS was established in 2002. SWISS is to acquire GCAT's 50% holding in SAT, making the operation a wholly-owned SWISS subsidiary. The acquisition was triggered by the change of control which occurred when GCAT was acquired by STAR Capital Partners Limited in February 2007. The parties agreed not to divulge the further terms of the transaction.

The Boeing Company will supply GoldCare Material Management services to GE Aviation, providing repair and overhaul services for the 787 Dreamliner under-wing rotable airplane components as an offering with GE's OnPoint solutions on GEnx engines.

On August 30, the Boeing Company and low-fare carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA announced an order for 42 Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s. The order is valued at US$3.1 billion at list prices. The airline has secured purchase rights for an additional 42 737-800s.
