British Midland plc announces that it has acquired control of the Heathrow-based BA franchise airline British Mediterranean (BMED). British Midland is the group holding company of bmi and has subscribed to approximately 30 million pounds of new shares in BMED.

- British Airways Announces Third Quarter Financial Results[Feb. 01, 2007]
On Feb. 1, British Airways reported an operating profit of 129 million pounds for the three months to December 31, 2006 (2005: 176 million pounds). For the nine months, the operating profit was 571 million pounds (2005: 596 million pounds). The operating margin for the quarter was 6.2 per cent, 2.4 points lower than last year.

As part of this agreement, Action Aviation has placed firm orders for 40 Javelin jets, worth $120 million, for delivery to its customers over a period of eight years from certification, including a few early premium positions.

On January 31, ANA (All Nippon Airways) concluded a Commitment Line agreement with a syndicate of 15 major Japanese banks, under the terms of which it can access up to 100 billion yen during a three to five year term. The money may be borrowed for any length of time up to three to five years from the date of application.
