On January 19, Dragonair launched flights to Busan in South Korea, operating a thrice-weekly service to the city. It is Dragonair's first scheduled service to South Korea and the second destination it has launched since becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific in September last year.

DHL has announced a US$35 million (HK$273 million) investment program in its Hong Kong facilities that will increase DHL Express ground handling capacity by about 20 percent.
- Hong Kong SAR Government Makes Adjustments to Aviation Passenger Fuel Surcharge[Jan. 18, 2007]
On January 18, the Civil Aviation Department Hong Kong approved the adjustments to the passenger fuel surcharges levied by six airlines from the present levels of $113 per passenger (for short haul flights) and $466 (for long haul flights) to $106 and $438 respectively. These represent a decrease of about 6%. The six airlines were Cathay Pacific Airways, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.

Starting from Sunday March 25, 2007, Singapore Airlines will increase its capacity on service between Shanghai and Singapore by offering three additional return flights on top of its present frequency of 28 return flights per week.

In a move designed to enhance Hong Kong's role as a financial and logistics centre and meet growing regional demand for gold, Airport Authority Hong Kong announced on January 17 that it will open a precious metals depository at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) by the end of 2007. Airport Authority Hong Kong will proceed to establish the new facility upon Legislative Council's approval of a proposed waiver of trade declaration charges for gold.
